Tribal Fusion is a dance style that is derived from American Tribal Style. The word «fusion» means «mixture», and Tribal Fusion blends elements of modern dance styles such as popping, hip-hop and breakdance. The dancer has a great opportunity to mix the elements as she wish with tribal as a base, and are free to choose the costume and music according to own preferences. Tribal Fusion is often called the snake dance because it is best known for its snake-like movements.
After a warm up with exercises from Pilates, the basic posture, techniques and arms will be reviewed. Typical Tribal Fusion movements and techniques will the be presented individually and in combinations and put together in the choreography. The workshop also includes a short introduction to the history of Tribal Fusion, music, costumes and makeup, as well as examples of influential fusion dancers.

About Elin
Elin Kåven – the arctic elf. In addition to being a music artist Elin is one of the best-known Tribal Fusion dancers in Norway. Her Sami background makes her particularly inspired by nature and mythical creatures. Elin gives workshops in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and England. For the second time, she will teach at Gothla UK, an alternative belly dance festival.

Elin has been dancing since 2004 and has studied with Rachel Brice, Sharon Kihara, Samantha Emanuel and Beata and Horacio Cifuentes. Other dancers who has influenced her is Ariellah and Morgana. Elin has performed at festivals, shows and on TV in Scandinavia, and she has also performed at several important tribal events in England as Raqs Britannia, Tribal London and Gothla.

Tribal Fusion er en dansestil som er utledet fra American Tribal Style. Ordet «fusion» betyr «blanding», og i Tribal Fusion blandes elementer fra moderne dansestiler som for eksempel popping, hip-hop og breakdance. Danseren har store muligheter til å blande elementer slik hun vil med tribal som base, og står fritt til å velge kostyme og musikk etter egne preferanser. Denne dansestilen i forandring hele tiden ut i fra hva som er nytt og populært av musikk og stiler akkurat nå. Tribal Fusion blir ofte kalt for slangedans, da den er mest kjent for sine slangelignende bevegelser.
Etter oppvarming med øvelser fra pilates, vil grunnleggende holdning, teknikk og armer bli gjennomgått. Typiske Tribal Fusion-trinn og -teknikker presentes så enkeltvis og i kombinasjoner, som senere brukes i koreografien. Du er fri til å bruke kombinasjonene slik du vil i din egen koreografi i etterkant. I kurset inngår også kort innføring i Tribal Fusions historie: musikk, kostymer og sminke, samt eksempler innflytelsesrike fusion-dansere.

Om Elin
Elin Kåven – den arktiske alven. I tillegg til å være musikkartist er Elin en av Norges mest kjente Tribal Fusion-dansere. Det er andre året vi har Elin som gjesteinstruktør på Tribal Camp Oslo. Hennes samiske bakgrunn gjør henne spesielt inspiret av naturen og mytiske skapninger. Elin reiser mye rundt og holder kurs i Norge og Sverige, Danmark og England. For andre gang skal hun undervise på Gothla UK, en alternativ magedansfestival.
